Job Description

Vendor Exemption Certificates:

  • Preparation of vendor exemption certs on advice from Indirect Tax that TR as a customer should be tax exempt for particular products/services.

Customer Exemption Certificates:

  • New exemption certificates entered by OTC team to be:

    Reviewed for completeness & accuracy

    Validated against Indirect Tax advice/research to ensure customer account set up & tax treatment is correct

    Approved in the appropriate system

  • Work with Indirect Tax to record the exemption in the tax engine
  • Prepare exemption certificates for qualified businesses
  • Work with customer admin to resolve customer account set up issues

PERSON SPECIFICATION: REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of tax regulations and nature of exemptions.
  • Understanding of rules for product and service-related exemptions.
  • Integrity to maintain consistent standard/requirements to determine validity of exemption certificates.
  • Strong IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, potential use of automation tools)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational ability
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline (desirable but not essential)
  • Prior experience in Sales and Use Taxes (desirable but not essential)
